It is made from fermented soybeans and originally comes from Indonesia where it is still eaten a lot. Tempeh is very tasty in oriental dishes and it has many applications in the macrobiotic kitchen. Due to the nutty flavor it is very tasty in salads or stir-fries. You can also marinate the tempeh and then bake it, for extra flavor!
